After humans are infected with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for the first time, the human immune system defends against the virus by generating specific antibodies.

IgM and IgG antibodies are generated successively in afew days to a few weeks after infection. IgM is the first antibody that appears in the body.

Detection of IgM indicates a recent infection and this information can be used for early diagnosis of infection. IgG is the antibody with the highest content in serum and body fluids. It is the main antibody generated by the immune response. It has high affinity, is widely distributed throughtout the body, and has an important role in the body’s defenses.
